Joint Information Systems Committee

Northumbria Learning manages the JISC Plagiarism Advisory Service (PAS), which is funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC). The service was established to support institutions, lecturers and students in their endeavours to ensure that the integrity of academic qualifications awarded in the UK is not undermined.

JISC works with further and higher education institutions by providing strategic guidance, advice and ICT support for teaching, learning, and research, as well as administration.

JISC PAS provides generic advice and guidance on all aspects of plagiarism prevention and detection for academics and students to around 700 further and higher education institutions in the UK. The service promotes a holistic approach to plagiarism prevention incorporating the consideration of institutional policies and procedures, teaching practice and study skills.

Northumbria Learning assists the JISC Plagiarism Advisory Service with the development and implementation of plagiarism strategy throughout the UK's academic community.

Following the success of the JISC PAS's first International Plagiarism Conference in 2004, Northumbria Learning is managing their 2nd International Plagiarism Conference from 19-21 June 2006 at the Sage, Gateshead, UK, to bring the issue of plagiarism to a worldwide platform.
